Pastor’s Message

Maybe this is your first time to visit our website and you are wondering who is this pastor in East Tennessee with such a wonderful last name? Yeah, that is the best place to start.

When Jesus called his first disciples, He did not tell them where He was sending them. According to the gospel of Matthew 4:19, Jesus said to them “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Until after Jesus’ resurrection and before he ascended into heaven, Jesus gave his disciples the road map to their mission field. Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

I was born in one of the most attractive countries in East African called Kenya. I was brought up in a Christian family in a small town of Eastern province called Embu. I am from a large family of ten siblings, plus mom, step mom and dad.

I have been married since August 2002, to my beautiful wife Agnes whom I met in Johnson City, TN in 2000. God has blessed us with two daughters - Myra and Tori.

I arrived in United States of America for the first time on January 10, 1999. You can imagine how I felt to land in Pittsburg, PA in winter time having in mind that it was my first time to see the snow. But because God was on my side, I did not lose heart or my dream of coming to America. I endured the horrible weather until I got used to it. I still don’t like cold weather but I like to see the snow.

After finishing my seminary work at Asbury seminary, I knew Holston Annual Conference would be my next stop but never had a dream of becoming a pastor of these two wonderful churches in Greene County. As Isaiah 55:8 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.” God has continued to order my steps and I am the pastor of Stone Dam UMC by the grace of God. We are ordinary people at Stone Dam UMC doing the extra-ordinary thing by the grace of God.

Stone Dam UMC has become an international church reaching out not only the local people of Chuckey and Afton but also understanding the word of John Wesley, “the world is our parish.”

Our mission statement is to make disciples for Christ. Our church is about populating the kingdom of God by depopulating the kingdom of darkness. You can witness this in our morning service where our worship is not just attending the service but being part of the worship. We are catching the revelation that when we forget about ourselves and concentrate on Jesus, then His presence is with us.

Please come and worship with us any Sunday morning or evening and your life will not be the same again.
